Tears

Hyacinth shuddered in his bed thinking about Birch's death.

"You motherfucker!"  Hyacinth screamed aloud to himself.  "How could you die without me!"

The doctors had only given Hyacinth three weeks to live with how his cancer had progressed.

None of his friends knew of the termination date.  Things were better that way Hyacinth thought to himself as he layed up in the hospital bed contemplating Birch's death.  He hadn't gotten the chance to tell Birch the truth.

Hyacinth had been keeping a book of keepsakes all from Birch.  At the end of the book there was just the writing.  "Love you always, even when we're apart."

Hyacinth's blank eyes stared at the feather that Birch had inherited.  He twirled it around in his fingers.  Eventually his eyes grew dim and their light faded.  He drew his last breath in the bed where Aloe Vera had him situated knowing these were his last days.  His arm went limp and the feather fluttered to the ground.  The feather fell into the sunlit corner on the floor and eventually when Aloe Vera turned around only to find Hyacinth had gone cold.  The feather sat motionless.  No wind or pressure in the air seemed to be able to move the dead weight of what was left unspoken.

The End
